Here's to Amy, Nancy and Frieda.
I have a pizza stone I put into an oven, heat up, dust with a little cornmeal, then bake an Amy's frozen pesto pizza for 10 minutes.
If I remember the story correctly, in the 1950's an odd fruit called the Chinese Gooseberry had fuzzy brown hairy skin and bright green flesh. Freida sold them as coming from New Zealand -- kiwi fruit.
Nancy's organic yogurt, cottage cheese, and now kefir are wholesome products sold nationwide. The family farm is run by the Kesey family (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest) out of Springfield Oregon. I pour their kefir into a half-empty pint of Julie's organic ice cream, stir, and pop into the freezer for a few minutes.
I've never tasted ice cream I thought needed more sugar. The piquant sourness of the yogurt cuts the richness of the ice cream and leaves a tasty yet satisfying treat. If you like yogurt, kefir is what these new drinkable yogurt "smoothies" are.
